Knitting Together for charity | Pori Art Museum

The recipients art museum has chosen are the Give the Gift of Warmth campaign organised by EHYT Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention and the A-Clinic Foundation, and the maternity and gynaecology ward at Satasairaala Hospital. You can leave your knitted donations at the art museum, and we will make sure they reach the recipients.

Please bring your own yarn and knitting needles. Participation is free of charge for charity knitters.

For the Give the Gift of Warmth campaign, you can knit and donate adult-sized woollen mittens, gloves and socks. The campaign runs from 1 September to 30 November 2026. The collected items will be distributed to people in need through EHYT and the A-Clinic Foundation’s various locations and partner organisations. As the weather gets colder in autumn, there is a particular need for generously sized, warm mittens. Only unused items will be accepted.

For the Satasairaala maternity and gynaecology ward collection, you can knit woollen blankets, socks, hats and crocheted octopus comfort toys for newborns.

Woollen blanket: approximately 60 × 80 cm, so that the blanket can also be wrapped around a baby.
Hat: the most common head circumference for the babies is 32–35 cm. The height of the hat should be 12–15 cm.
Woollen socks: for example, the traditional train sock pattern has proven to work well. The foot length should be 8–10 cm.
As a general rule when knitting for babies, the material should contain as little synthetic fibre as possible. Donations do not need to be washed or frozen.
