JUICE – musikaali (performed in Finnish)
An incredible musical journey through time into the world of Juice and his friends!
Juice has been regarded as a father figure of Finnish rock music and the creator of the “Manserock” movement. He was a brilliant singer-songwriter, lyricist, and author who sang his way into the hearts of Finns with his distinctive songs. A master of wordplay, a social critic, and an advocate of humanity, his music is also filled with humor and often explores themes of love.
Juice is portrayed by the outstanding singer Ilpo Kaikkonen, who first rose to public attention as a finalist in Idols. Since then, he has captivated audiences as an actor in the Finnish rock musical Ihan Tuuliajolla, where he delivered a remarkable performance as Ismo Alanko.
Juice was born in Juankoski, a small industrial town in Northern Savonia. He grew up in a family of five children, three of whom died at a young age. His father, who worked at a plywood factory, passed away when Juice was only 11 years old. In difficult circumstances, Jussi (Juice) had to take on significant responsibility for his family at an early age. His strong-willed mother remained an important figure throughout his life.
From Juankoski, Juice moved to Tampere to study at the Language Institute. There, he met Mikko Alatalo and Harri Rinne, and their friendship would soon go on to change the Finnish music scene. Together they formed the legendary band Coitus Int, which quickly gained popularity among student audiences.
Juice was a prolific composer and lyricist, and by the age of 25 he was already among the most well-known Finnish rock singers. Over the years, his bands changed frequently, but the most famous include Juice Leskinen Slam and Juice Leskinen Grand Slam.
Juice was a self-aware, lovable yet complex artistic personality who lived a bohemian life. His life included many deep loves, their endings, and heavy alcohol use. It is often said that Juice lived intensely through love.
The musical takes audiences on a powerful journey into the world of Juice and his friends. The show features songs such as Luonas kai olla saan, Viidestoista yö, Syksyn Sävel, Marilyn, 3.30, Pyhä toimitus, Kaksoiselämää, Musta aurinko nousee, Aamu alkaa A:lla, and many more.
