Nature and Cultural Sailing to Kaunissaari

Spend a wonderful day at sea! Sail aboard Ihana from Laitakari in Luvia to Kaunissaari – a guided excursion into the island’s nature and unique history.

Set off on a summer day trip to the Bothnian Sea! The wooden sailing vessel Ihana sails from Laitakari in Luvia to Kaunissaari, one of the unique nature and cultural destinations of southern Satakunta.

After approximately two hours of sailing, we arrive at Kaunissaari, where the island’s history and diverse nature are explored with a guide. While walking along the island’s paths, visitors can learn about, among other things, the era of the Ahlström steam-powered sawmill, which was established on the island in 1874, as well as the island’s former settlement. The nature of Kaunissaari is a miniature version of the Bothnian Sea region: ancient rocky pine forests, herb-rich and heath forests, and beautiful meadows.

The price of the sailing trip includes salmon soup lunch on board as well as guided interpretation on the island. After the guided tour, there is time for independent exploration along the island’s paths.
