Five enduring stars of Finnish schlager music are joining forces and heading out on an extensive nationwide tour across Finland this October!
True to its name, the Five-Star Tour brings five top artists to the stage: Marion Rung, Meiju Suvas, Virve Rosti, Ami Aspelund, and Anja Niskanen. They will be accompanied by an orchestra led by conductor Esa Nieminen.
Audiences will hear beloved hits spanning decades from each artist’s career, along with surprises and special arrangements created exclusively for this tour.
“Expect a dazzling parade of hits from multiple decades. It’s an incredible honor to tour with these artists and this magnificent orchestra and revisit so many unforgettable songs,” says conductor Esa Nieminen.
“It’s fantastic to go on tour with these mature ladies. Each of us brings a wealth of achievements, talent, and experience. What I’m most excited about are Esa Nieminen’s arrangements — and I hope we’ll have a shared song medley of our own, like the group Leidit Lavalla once did. The kind that people will still be humming twenty years from now,” hopes Virve Rosti.
The artists of the Five-Star Tour have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest and the Syksyn Sävel competition, and above all, they have recorded countless evergreen hits that continue to play on the radio time and time again. Marion Rung represented Finland at Eurovision in 1962 and 1973 and won Syksyn Sävel in 1977. Ami Aspelund represented Finland at Eurovision in 1983, and Virve Rosti in 1987. Anja Niskanen won Syksyn Sävel in 1984.
“It’s a great joy to work with these wonderful and talented colleagues. Meiju and I have done a few things together over the years, but performing with these other amazing artists is a first for me. I believe we’re going to have a lot of fun together — and I’m sure the audience will see that too,” says Marion Rung.
“When this quintet combines its energy, it will surely be an experience beyond imagination — something you simply have to witness yourself. I’m really looking forward to this explosion of female energy as we share good vibes with our soul sisters all around Finland,” says Meiju Suvas.
The careers of these five artists are filled with numerous hits, including Pure mua, Tää onnea on, Ollaan hiljaa vain, Fantasiaa, Mitt äppelträd, Kun Chicago kuoli, Tuolta saapuu Charlie Brown, El Bimbo, Hyvästi yö, and many more.
